Rippling vs Justworks (2026): PEO Pricing, Support and Which Fits
Justworks is the better PEO for a small US team that wants published prices and 24/7 help. Rippling is the better buy when the PEO is one module in a wider HR, IT and global hiring platform that you plan to keep after you outgrow co-employment.
Rippling or Justworks: which PEO should you choose?
Choose Justworks if you are a small US team that wants a PEO with health benefits, round-the-clock support and a price on the website: $79 or $124 per employee per month. Choose Rippling if the PEO is one part of a bigger system for HR, payroll, devices and hiring abroad, and you want to keep that system after you leave co-employment.

Rippling vs Justworks at a glance
Figures come from each vendor’s own pricing, product and help center pages, checked in October 2026. Justworks prices almost everything in public; Rippling prices almost nothing beyond its entry point, so expect “Quote only” in the Rippling column. Shaded cells mark the product that leads on that row.

HRS score is our editorial rating from the full Rippling review and Justworks review.
The core difference: a platform with a PEO vs a PEO with a platform
Justworks sells co-employment first. You pick one of three US plans, Justworks becomes the employer of record for tax and benefits purposes, and payroll, health insurance, workers’ comp and HR help arrive as one bundle on one invoice. The software is simple on purpose, and the price per head is the whole story for most buyers.
Rippling sells the employee record first. Its PEO is a switch you turn on inside the same system that runs your HRIS, payroll, laptops, app logins and international hires. You pay for that reach with a quote for every module, and you gain the option to turn the PEO off later without moving your people to new software.
Rippling: the PEO is one switch on the record
Justworks: three plans, one bundle
How Rippling and Justworks score
Both products land on 4.1 overall, but for opposite reasons. Justworks wins five of the seven parameters the two reviews share, including support by more than a full point. Rippling wins the two that matter once you grow: coverage and integrations. Rippling’s review also scores IT and device management (4.4) and Justworks’ scores payroll and benefits (4.5); neither appears below because the other review has no matching row.
Rippling vs Justworks pricing, and what you actually pay
Justworks publishes every plan and add-on. Rippling publishes one line, “from $8 per employee per month, with a monthly base fee”, and quotes the PEO, payroll and every other module. Rippling’s own PEO cost guide puts a typical PEO at $500 to $1,500 per employee a year, so the Rippling column below uses the top of that range and says so.
Some comparison sites still describe Justworks as quote only or list a $59 contractor price. Both are out of date: Justworks lists PEO Basic at $79, PEO Plus at $124 and international contractors at $39. For payroll-only options, see our payroll software ranking.

Health premiums
Neither PEO fee includes insurance premiums. They are billed on top and depend on plan, age mix and state.
Workers’ comp
Rippling: pay-as-you-go cover in the PEO, rate quoted.
Justworks: required on PEO plans, charged as a percentage of wages on each payroll invoice.
State unemployment (SUI)
Rippling: says you can keep your own SUI account in states that allow it.
Justworks: not published. Ask which rate applies in each state.
Platform and base fees
Rippling: $8 per employee plus a base fee that isn’t published.
Justworks: $50 base on Payroll only; none on PEO or EOR.
Implementation
Rippling: not published; our review found setup fees on multi-module deals.
Justworks: no implementation fee, per its pricing page.
Contract and billing
Rippling: term not published on the pricing page.
Justworks: monthly admin fees; new customers may prepay the first year. Minimum term not published.

Rippling: each module quoted.
Justworks: time tracking $8, dedicated HR consulting $30, health reimbursement (CHOICE) $25 per person.

12-month PEO admin cost at three team sizes
| PEO employees | Rippling ($125 + $8, modelled) | Justworks PEO Plus ($124) | Gap per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 employees | $7,980 | $7,440 | $540 |
| 25 employees | $39,900 | $37,200 | $2,700 |
| 100 employees | $159,600 | $148,800 | $10,800 |
Admin fees only. Health premiums, workers’ comp, payroll taxes and Rippling’s unpublished base fee are excluded. Rippling’s $125 is not a Rippling price: it is $1,500 a year, the top of the PEO cost range in Rippling’s own pricing guide. The gap is $108 per employee a year, so any Rippling PEO quote below $116 per employee per month beats PEO Plus. Justworks PEO Basic at $79 costs $4,740 a year for 5 employees, $23,700 for 25 and $94,800 for 100.

Rippling vs Justworks features compared
On the core PEO job, payroll, benefits and compliance, the two are closer than their marketing suggests. The gap opens around the edges: Rippling runs the laptops, logins and international hires, while Justworks keeps the feature list short and the help desk open all night. Where each one works: benefits, US states and hiring abroad
Both are US PEOs first, and most buyers of this pair hire abroad only now and then, so we compare service lines rather than a 24-country EOR grid. Two details change real decisions: Justworks’ payroll-only plan runs in 20 states plus DC, and its EOR list stops at 35 countries. Rippling covers more, but you only learn what it costs on a call.
Statuses come from each vendor’s pricing, product and help center pages, checked in October 2026. Justworks’ help center lists 35 EOR countries, from Brazil and Canada to India, Poland and the UK; Japan, Hong Kong and most of Eastern Asia are not on it. Rippling does not publish its EOR country list, so confirm each country before you sign.
Setup, go-live and support
Support is where this pair differs most in daily life. Justworks keeps humans on the phone around the clock for PEO customers. Rippling answers chats fast during business hours, and our review found that complex payroll cases take longer to close and that employees route most questions through an admin.
Rippling
- Setup
- Rippling says “weeks, not months” for the PEO. Every extra module adds configuration work.
- Go-live
- Switch at any time, including mid-year; Rippling imports year-to-date payroll from the old provider.
- Support model
- In-house specialists, weekdays 9am to 5pm local time; claims about 30-second chat replies and 90%+ CSAT.
- Employee access
- Employees use the Rippling app; support is admin-led, per our review.
Justworks
- Setup
- Expedited PEO enrollment takes 2 to 3 weeks, depending on how fast you finish the application.
- Go-live
- Health cover starts on the 1st; the deadline is around the middle of the month before.
- Support model
- 24/7 phone, email and chat on PEO plans. The Payroll plan promises a reply within one business day.
- Employee access
- Web account and mobile app for payslips, benefits and time off.
Rippling or Justworks: which one fits your company?
These are the four situations we see most for this pair. Two go to Justworks because small US teams are its home ground, and one goes to neither, because Justworks’ payroll-only plan doesn’t run in every state.
70-person remote software company that ships laptops to every hire
The PEO is only part of the job here. Rippling puts benefits, payroll, device setup and app logins in one onboarding flow, and the team can drop co-employment at 150 people without changing systems. Justworks would cover the PEO but leave IT on separate tools.
12-person design agency that needs health insurance this quarter
PEO Plus at $124 per employee costs $17,856 a year in admin fees before premiums, and the founder knows that number before any call. 24/7 support covers the questions an HR hire would answer.
US startup adding three engineers in Poland and Brazil
Both countries are on Justworks’ 35-country EOR list at a published $599, in the same account as the US PEO. Rippling would also cover them, but on a quote. Pick Rippling only if your next hires fall outside Justworks’ list.
Eight-person shop in Ohio that only needs payroll
Justworks’ payroll-only plan isn’t available in Ohio, and a PEO is more than this team needs. Rippling would quote a platform built for bigger teams. Gusto Simple runs about $1,164 a year here, with published prices and month-to-month terms.
Where Rippling and Justworks fall short
Each product’s weak spots are the other’s selling points, which is why this pair is rarely a close call once you know your needs. Full pros and cons sit on each review page.
Rippling
- No published PEO priceYou can’t compare it with Justworks until sales sends a quote, and the base fee is never on the website.
- Business-hours supportHelp runs weekdays 9am to 5pm local time, and employees mostly go through an admin.
- Costs stack by modulePayroll, PEO, IT and EOR are priced separately, and our review found setup fees on larger deals.
Justworks
- EOR stops at 35 countriesJapan, Hong Kong and most of Asia outside India, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore need another provider.
- Short integration list30 listed apps and no documented public API, so custom workflows hit a wall.
- Payroll-only plan in 20 states plus DCTeams elsewhere that don’t want a PEO can’t use the cheaper plan.
What users say about Rippling and Justworks
We read public reviews from verified buyers of both. Rippling’s sample is about nine times larger and spans many modules, so its themes are broader; Justworks’ reviews come mostly from small US PEO customers and are more consistent.
Rippling
Based on 17,000+ public reviews
Praised for
- One system for everything. Payroll, benefits, devices and apps from one login.
- Automation that works. Onboarding and offboarding run without manual steps.
- Integrations. Most tools a growing company uses connect out of the box.
Criticised for
- Bills that grow. Module pricing makes total spend hard to forecast.
- Slow on complex cases. Payroll and benefits escalations take longer than first replies suggest.
- Heavy setup. Multi-module rollouts need real admin time.
Justworks
Based on 1,906 public reviews
Praised for
- Easy for non-HR founders. Payroll and benefits run with little training.
- People on the phone. 24/7 support is the most-mentioned strength.
- Big-company benefits. Small teams get plans they couldn’t buy alone.
Criticised for
- Basic reporting. Finance teams export data to build their own reports.
- Cost climbs with headcount. Flat per-head fees add up past 50 staff.
- Limited plan choice. Benefits options are narrower than a broker can offer.
Switching between Rippling and Justworks
Moving from one PEO to another changes who files your payroll taxes and who holds your health plan, so timing matters more than software. Switch at a quarter start if you can, line it up with your benefits renewal, and ask how deductibles already met this year carry over.
Rippling to Justworks
Higher effort- Check the term and notice period on your Rippling order form.
- Replace any Rippling IT, device or spend modules you use; Justworks has no equivalent.
- Start Justworks enrollment 2 to 3 weeks ahead and hit the mid-month benefits deadline.
- Export payroll history and employee records, and rebuild integrations from Justworks’ list of 30.
Justworks to Rippling
Moderate effort- Ask Rippling whether to join its PEO or run payroll on your own accounts.
- Open your own state unemployment accounts where Justworks reported under its own.
- Rippling imports year-to-date payroll, so a mid-year move is possible.
- Employees re-enroll in benefits; move any EOR hires to Rippling on new contracts.
