HRS score is our editorial rating from the full Deel review and Rippling review.

The core difference: a hiring network vs an employee record

Deel starts with the country. It owns the legal entity and runs the payroll engine in 130+ markets, so a hire in São Paulo or Warsaw gets a local contract from Deel itself. Contractors, a US PEO, HR, device shipping and visas were added around that network, which is why Deel is the default employer of record shortlist pick for companies hiring in many places at once.

Rippling starts with the person. Every module, from HRIS and payroll to laptops, app logins and corporate cards, reads the same employee record, and EOR is one more thing that record can switch on. That is a strong fit for a company that already runs its own staff on Rippling and wants a few people abroad. It is a weaker fit when the hiring plan reaches countries outside Rippling’s list.

Deel: one company, its own entity in each country

Strongest when hiring is spread across many countries and worker types. Weakest as the HR system for your own head office, where its HR suite is newer and lighter.

Rippling: EOR is one switch on the record

Strongest when you buy several modules for your own staff. Weakest when EOR is the main need, because coverage stops at 80 countries and every price is a quote.

Deel vs Rippling pricing, and what you actually pay

Deel prints a price for almost everything it sells. Rippling prints one number, its platform entry point, and quotes the rest, EOR included. Older comparisons still list Deel HR as free and Deel global payroll as quote only; Deel’s own pages now show HR Core from $5 and global payroll from $29 plus a setup fee.

At list price the two EORs land close together, so the bigger money questions are contract length, deposits and what each charges around the EOR fee. For rates across the market, see our EOR provider ranking.

Country coverage: where each one can hire

This is the section most likely to settle it. Deel’s 130+ owned-entity countries cover almost any shortlist. Rippling’s 80 cover the usual European, North American and large Asian markets, and it runs payroll itself where you have your own entity. Check whether your next three hiring countries are on Rippling’s list before anything else.

Own payroll: Rippling runs payroll itself for companies with a local entityEOR: hire without an entityNot on list: not on the provider’s current EOR country list

Rippling’s 80-country figure is from its 2025 EOR update, and it shares the full list during sales; it may have added markets since. Deel lists its EOR countries in its public country guides. Confirm each country with both before you sign.

Implementation and support

Deel’s EOR is quick to start because there is little to configure: you invite the hire and Deel’s local entity issues the contract. Rippling’s EOR onboarding is fast too, but the platform behind it takes longer when you buy several modules. On support, Deel sells round-the-clock help in your language; Rippling sells speed of first reply, and public reviews say complex payroll cases on both take longer than the first answer suggests.

Deel

Setup
EOR needs almost none. Payroll on your own entities goes live in 1 to 2 weeks for small companies and 1 to 3 months per entity at enterprise scale.
First EOR hire
Onboarding in as little as one day, with a local contract from Deel’s entity.
Support model
24/7 in your language, through chat, Slack, WhatsApp and Teams, backed by 2,000+ HR, legal and equity experts.
Employee access
Workers get the Deel app, payslips, the Deel Card and 10+ ways to withdraw pay.

Rippling

Setup
Per-module configuration. An EOR-only start is quick; a full HR, IT and payroll rollout takes weeks.
First EOR hire
Rippling says onboarding takes minutes and payday comes in 5 days in popular markets.
Support model
Claims first replies in under 30 seconds and publishes its satisfaction figures.
Employee access
Employees use the Rippling app; reviewers say harder issues route through admins.

Which one to pick for your situation

These four situations cover most of the Deel vs Rippling shortlists we see. The deciding factor is rarely price, since the EOR rates sit close together. It is usually where you hire and what system your own staff already live in.

US company on Rippling, adding its first staff abroad

120 US staff5 new hiresUK, Germany, Canada

All three countries are inside Rippling’s footprint, and the new hires land on the same record as everyone else, laptop and logins included. Bringing in Deel would add a second system and a second vendor for five people.

Pick Rippling

Remote-first startup hiring across 9 countries

25 hiresEOR and contractorsNo entities

A mixed team of employees and contractors in nine markets is Deel’s home ground. Every product has a published price, contractors cost $49 each, and month-to-month terms keep the exit open while the plan changes.

Pick Deel

Engineering team in Taiwan, Ukraine and Hong Kong

10 hires3 countriesTight start date

None of the three countries is on Rippling’s current EOR list, so the decision is made before price comes up. Deel covers all three through its own entities.

Pick Deel

Seed-stage company making one or two hires

2 hiresPhilippines, MexicoBudget first

At $599 a month, Deel costs about $4,800 more per hire a year than the cheapest published EOR rate we track, and Rippling adds a platform fee and contract minimums. A lower-cost specialist fits better until the team grows.

Where each one falls short

These are the limits that matter in this matchup. The full pros and cons live on each review page.

Deel

  • Escalations bounce aroundRoutine chats are fast, but public reviews say complex tickets pass between teams before anyone owns them.
  • Native payroll in 53 countriesDeel quotes payroll in 130+ countries, but its own engine runs in 53; elsewhere it works through local experts.
  • Costs that surface after signingDeposits, FX margins and the $1,000 per-entity payroll setup aren’t on the main pricing page.

Rippling

  • No published EOR priceYou can’t budget or compare without a sales call, and quotes vary by country and bundle.
  • 80-country EOR ceilingFine for mainstream markets. Hong Kong, Taiwan, Ukraine and Sri Lanka need another provider.
  • Platform costs come with itThe per-employee fee, the unpublished base fee and order-form minimums apply even if EOR is all you buy.

What users say about Deel and Rippling

Both samples are large, so these themes are reliable. Deel’s reviewers are mostly founders and operations leads running international teams; Rippling’s skew toward US companies using several of its modules.

Deel

Based on 26,800+ public reviews

Praised for

  • Easy to run without HR staff. Founders set up contracts and payments themselves.
  • Everything in one login. EOR, contractors and payroll in one account.
  • Pay runs land on time. Reliability is the first thing switchers mention.

Criticised for

  • Escalations. Complex tickets get passed between teams.
  • Refunds and deposits. Getting money back after offboarding is slow.
  • Costs unclear at signing. Fees beyond the list price show up later.

Rippling

Based on 17,000+ public reviews

Praised for

  • One login for everything. Payroll, time off, benefits and devices in one place.
  • Automation that holds up. Onboarding and offboarding run without manual steps.
  • Easy for non-HR admins. Little training needed for daily tasks.

Criticised for

  • Bills that grow. Module pricing makes total spend hard to forecast.
  • Slow on complex issues. Payroll escalations take longer than first replies suggest.
  • Coverage gaps mid-expansion. Teams hit the EOR country limit before the plan ends.

Switching between Deel and Rippling

Moving EOR staff changes their legal employer, so each person signs a new local contract. Budget for one or two payroll cycles of overlap and check how each country treats continuity of service before you give notice.

Deel to Rippling

Higher effort
  1. Confirm every employee’s country is on Rippling’s EOR list first.
  2. Agree the deposit refund timeline with Deel before notice goes out.
  3. Each employee moves to Rippling’s local employer on a new contract.
  4. Move contractors too, or keep them on Deel at $49 each.

Rippling to Deel

Moderate effort
  1. Check the notice period and minimum term in your Rippling order form.
  2. Export employee records and payroll history from Rippling.
  3. Deel’s entity issues new local contracts; staff re-enrol in benefits.
  4. Decide where HR data lives: Deel HR, or keep Rippling’s HRIS for your own staff.

Final verdict

Deel is the better EOR. Rippling is the better home for your own staff.

If hiring abroad is the main job, Deel does it in more countries, on its own entities, at a price you can see and with no long-term contract. If your company already runs HR, IT and payroll on Rippling and the hires abroad sit in its 80 countries, keeping everyone on one record is worth more than Deel’s wider reach.

Go with Deel when

  • You hire in many countries or outside Rippling’s list
  • You pay contractors as well as employees
  • You want month-to-month terms and published prices

Go with Rippling when

  • Your own staff already run on Rippling
  • Every hiring country is on its 80-country list
  • Devices, app access and spend matter as much as payroll

Get these in writing before you sign

  • Per-country EOR rate for every country on your plan, including any above Deel’s $599.
  • Deposit amount per employee and the refund timeline after offboarding.
  • Minimum term and renewal uplift, and the notice needed to leave.
  • Termination and offboarding fees per country.
  • Who employs your staff in each country: the provider’s own entity or a partner.
  • Payroll cut-off and payday lead time in your main markets.
  • FX margin on funding payroll in your currency.
  • Escalation path and response targets for payroll errors, not just first replies.

Deel vs Rippling: FAQs

Is Deel or Rippling cheaper for EOR?

At list price they sit close together. Deel publishes EOR at $599 per employee per month with no platform fee. Rippling quotes EOR per deal and charges a platform fee from $8 per employee per month plus a base fee. At an equal $599 quote, Rippling costs about $96 more per employee a year before its base fee.

Does Rippling publish its EOR pricing?

No. Rippling’s pricing page lists only the platform starting price of $8 per employee per month plus a monthly base fee. EOR, payroll and contractor pricing are quote only, and its promo terms confirm EOR deposits are required.

How many countries do Deel and Rippling cover?

Deel says it owns entities and its payroll engine in 130+ countries for EOR. Rippling’s latest published EOR count is 80 countries, from its 2025 update. Hong Kong, Taiwan, Ukraine and Sri Lanka are among the common markets not on Rippling’s list.

Does Deel or Rippling require a long-term contract?

Deel’s EOR is month to month and can be cancelled any time; only its PEO promotion needs a two-year term. Rippling doesn’t publish a minimum term on its pricing page, but its startup offer requires 18 months for companies up to 50 employees and 24 months above that.

Which one pays employees faster?

Rippling publishes a lead time of 5 days to payday in popular markets and 12 days elsewhere. Deel doesn’t publish a payday figure, though it says EOR onboarding can take as little as one day.

Can I use Deel for EOR and Rippling for HR?

Yes, and some companies do: Rippling stays the system for head-office staff and Deel employs people abroad. Expect two contracts, two invoices and some manual data sync, so check each marketplace for a live integration before you commit.

Do Deel or Rippling offer startup discounts?

Rippling gives eligible startups six months free, but EOR is free for only the first three months and deposits still apply. Deel’s current offer is three months of US PEO free on a two-year order. Neither offers a free trial.

Which is better for contractors?

Deel, on price and transparency. It charges $49 per contractor per month and $325 for Contractor of Record, with free withdrawals to a local bank. Rippling pays contractors in 185+ countries but quotes the price.
