Talent management software gives managers one place to run performance reviews, set goals, plan careers and spot future leaders. Done well, it turns review season from a scramble of spreadsheets into a steady rhythm of feedback and growth.
The tools differ most in calibration depth, native learning, succession planning and how they price. We checked every price on the vendor’s own site in October 2026 and scored all ten on the same eight parameters.

The top three tie at 4.3 and we rank Lattice first for the depth of its calibration and talent reviews. Choose “Highest score” to sort on score alone. “From” shows each provider’s own entry price for performance reviews. “Lowest price” sorts on the monthly cost for a 50-person team on that plan at list price, as published on each provider’s own site in October 2026. Lattice, 15Five and Leapsome bill annually only, so their figure is the annual rate per month. Leapsome publishes in euros only (€700 for 50 staff) and sorts at the ECB rate of 12 October 2026. HiBob, ClearCo, Workday, Culture Amp and Cornerstone publish no prices and sort last. Minimums and implementation fees are in the full reviews. Sorting changes the order only.
Detailed Reviews of the 10 Best Talent Management Platforms
Each card shows the eight-parameter score, the cost for a 50-person team and what each tool does best. Read the “What to watch” column first, because that’s where most tools get ruled out.

Lattice
Why we picked Lattice
Lattice is the most complete performance tool here for a mid-sized team. Reviews take self, peer, upward and manager input on separate deadlines, and its spring 2026 release builds calibration groups automatically.
At 50 people, Performance costs $500 a month on annual billing, which clears the $4,000 yearly minimum. Add Grow at $4 a seat if you want career tracks and development plans.

Best for: Mid-sized teams that want reviews, OKRs and 1:1s in one tool, with calibration that runs without spreadsheets.

Leapsome
Why we picked Leapsome
Leapsome is the only top-three pick with a native learning module, priced at €4 per employee, sitting next to reviews, OKRs and engagement surveys.
Calibration runs on a live heatmap or 9-box, and the integrations page names 20+ HRIS connectors, including Workday, Personio and SAP.
Budget for the platform fee. The €7 HRIS Foundation is required with every module, though Leapsome waives it until 31 December 2026 for buyers of any talent module.

Best for: Teams that want reviews and training paths in one place and can work with modular per-employee pricing.

15Five
Why we picked 15Five
15Five packs the most talent tooling into one price. The $11 Perform plan includes 360 reviews, calibration, weighted OKRs, a 9-box, succession planning and individual development plans, and a 50-person team pays $550 a month on annual billing.

Best for: Growing teams that want calibration and succession planning without paying enterprise prices.

HiBob
Why we picked HiBob
HiBob makes sense if you’re choosing an HRIS and a talent tool at the same time. Its Talent package adds 360 reviews, drag-and-drop 9-box calibration, successor mapping and Bob Learning to the employee record.
Pricing is quote only. Independent 2026 estimates put Core plus talent modules at roughly $6 to $14 per employee a month, plus a one-time implementation fee.

Support channels
Best for: Companies replacing their HRIS that want talent management on the same record from day one.

Betterworks
Why we picked Betterworks
Betterworks is built around OKRs. Goals cascade from company to team to person, and the $9 plan adds Anytime Calibration, succession and talent mobility, and skills intelligence.
At 50 people that’s $450 a month before implementation, but Betterworks says it adds the most value above 500 employees, and its June 2026 Rypple acquisition points further toward manager tooling for large teams.

Support channels
Best for: Companies of 500 or more that run the business on cascading goals and want succession in the same tool.

ClearCo
Why we picked ClearCo
ClearCo, which rebranded from ClearCompany in March 2026, covers recruiting, onboarding, performance and learning in one system.
Its LMS came with the 2024 Brainier acquisition and ships with a library of about 10,000 courses, alongside 360 reviews, calibration and a 9-box view.
We found no documented succession planning. If bench strength matters, ask for it in the demo.

Best for: US teams that want recruiting, reviews and an LMS from one vendor.

Workday
Why we picked Workday
Workday is the deepest talent suite on this list. Succession pools, critical-role tracking and N-box talent reviews draw on Skills Cloud and Workday Learning, all on the same record as payroll and finance.
It’s priced for large companies. The lowest recorded deal we found was about $19,000 a year, and implementation typically runs five to nine months.

Strengths and limitations
Support channels
Best for: Enterprises planning succession across thousands of roles that already run, or will run, Workday HCM.

Culture Amp
Why we picked Culture Amp
Culture Amp ties performance reviews to engagement data from 6,000+ companies. Reviews include calibration reports and 360 feedback, and AI Coach comes with every plan.
It has no succession or 9-box module, which is why it ranks eighth on a talent management lens.

Editor scores: 8 parameters
Strengths and limitations
Support channels
Best for: Companies that act on engagement survey data first and want performance reviews built on it.

Cornerstone OnDemand
Why we picked Cornerstone OnDemand
Cornerstone is the pick when learning drives your talent strategy. Its LMS, content library and SkyHive skills engine feed succession readiness and career plans, though public reviews rate admin ease of use just 3.9 out of 5.

Best for: Enterprises where training and skills data drive promotions, mobility and succession.

BambooHR
Why we picked BambooHR
BambooHR suits a small team running its first structured reviews. The $17 Pro plan adds 360 reviews and 1:1s to core HR, and teams of 25 or fewer pay a flat $425 a month.
It stops there: no calibration, no succession and no career paths. Teams that outgrow it often connect 15Five or Culture Amp through its 150+ integrations.

Best for: Small teams starting formal reviews on the HRIS they already use.

This guide helps you settle three things before a demo: which type of tool you need, what it will cost at your headcount and what to check before you sign.
Three Types of Talent Management Software
Most buying mistakes start with the wrong type of tool. The first question is whether talent data should live inside your HR system or next to it.
Specialist performance tools
Reviews, goals and growth that plug into the HRIS you already run
Right for: Teams keeping their HRIS. Four of the five publish prices, from $8 a user.
HR and hiring suites with talent modules
Talent sits on the same system as core HR or recruiting
Right for: Companies replacing their HRIS or ATS at the same time. Talent depth varies widely, from BambooHR’s basic reviews to HiBob’s 9-box calibration.
Enterprise talent suites
Succession, skills and learning at scale, sold on quotes
Right for: Large organisations with an implementation budget and a dedicated HR systems team.
If you’re still choosing the HR system itself, settle that first, because it decides which specialist tools connect cleanly.
Start with the system of record: compare HR platforms in our HRIS software ranking, or see goal-only tools in our OKR software ranking.
How to Choose a Talent Management Platform
Five capabilities separate these tools far more than price does. Rank them for your team before you book demos.
Review depth and calibration
Lattice’s 2026 survey of 1,358 HR professionals found a third on quarterly cycles and 12% on monthly ones. At that pace, calibrating in spreadsheets breaks down, so look for built-in calibration and a 9-box view.
Goals and OKRs
Lattice charges $8 a seat and Leapsome €4 per employee for goals on top of reviews. 15Five and Betterworks include them in the base plan, and Betterworks is the only one built around cascading OKRs.
Best equipped: Betterworks, 15Five, Lattice
Native learning
The other five stop at development plans or career tracks, so courses need a separate system. If training is central, compare our LMS platforms guide before you commit.
Best equipped: Cornerstone OnDemand, Leapsome, ClearCo
Succession planning
Leapsome, ClearCo, Culture Amp and BambooHR have no documented succession module. Betterworks includes it only on its $9 plan.
Best equipped: Workday, Cornerstone OnDemand, 15Five
What Talent Management Software Really Costs
Five of the ten publish prices. For a 50-person team on the cheapest plan with performance reviews, list prices run from $400 to $850 a month.
50-person team, list price, cheapest plan that includes performance reviews, checked on each vendor’s site in October 2026. Lattice, 15Five and Leapsome bill annually only. Leapsome’s bar uses the ECB rate of 12 October 2026 (about $783). BambooHR’s figure includes core HR, so it isn’t a like-for-like add-on cost.
The plan price is rarely the whole bill. These are the minimums and extra charges we found for all ten.
| Platform | Minimum or contract | Charges outside the plan price |
|---|---|---|
| Lattice | Annual billing, $4,000 a year minimum | Goals $8, Grow $4 and Compensation $6 per seat |
| Leapsome | One-year contract | HRIS Foundation €7 per employee (waived to 31 Dec 2026), optional €24,000 Accelerator Program |
| 15Five | Annual billing | Compensation $9 to $11 per user, Kona Coach $19 per manager |
| HiBob | Quote only | Talent package on top of Core, one-time implementation fee |
| Betterworks | Not published | One-time implementation fee, not priced publicly |
| ClearCo | Annual contract | Implementation and services quoted separately |
| Workday | Quote only | Implementation typically one to two times the annual subscription |
| Culture Amp | Annual billing | People Science consulting quoted separately |
| Cornerstone OnDemand | Multi-year terms with user minimums | Implementation, estimated at 15% to 30% of year-one fees |
| BambooHR | Monthly billing available | Implementation fee not published, payroll and benefits sold as add-ons |
For the quote-only platforms, purchase data is the best guide we have.
Quote-only medians: Vendr’s purchase data (updated February 2026) puts median annual contracts at $11,185 for ClearCo, $23,270 for Culture Amp, $29,705 for Cornerstone and $51,233 for Workday. These cover deals of every company size, so a 50-person team should expect less.
How Long Implementation Takes
Setup time splits by type. Specialist tools and mid-market suites go live in weeks, while an enterprise suite takes months.
Whatever the tool, the work runs in the same order, and the first review cycle is the real go-live date.
Connect the HRIS and import the org chart
Reporting lines drive review routing and calibration groups, so clean them before anything else.

Five Questions to Ask Before You Sign
In Lattice’s 2026 survey, 47% of HR teams said an HR tech purchase from the last two years underperformed or was a mistake. Half blamed missing functionality and a third blamed integration, and these five questions target both.
“Which modules do we need for calibration, goals and succession, and what does each cost?”
“What’s the minimum annual spend and contract length?”
“Does data sync both ways with our HRIS, and how often?”
“What does implementation cost, and who does the work?”
“How does your AI use our review data, and can we switch it off?”

Talent Management Software FAQs
Straight answers to the questions buyers ask most before choosing a platform.
How We Scored Talent Management Platforms
Every platform on this page is scored on the same eight parameters, on a 1 to 5 scale. The overall score is the weighted average of the eight, and paid placement never affects the ranking.
Pricing & Value
Published price per user, minimum spend, implementation fees and what the entry plan actually includes. Quote-only pricing scores lower because buyers can’t compare it upfront.
Performance Reviews & Calibration
Review types (self, peer, upward and 360), configurable cycles, calibration tools and 9-box views. This carries the most weight because reviews are why most teams buy.
Goals & OKRs
Goal and OKR setting, cascading and alignment, regular check-ins and how goals feed into reviews.
Learning & Career Development
Native learning or LMS modules, career paths, competency frameworks and individual development plans.
Succession & Talent Analytics
Succession planning, readiness tracking, skills data and talent reporting such as 9-box and retention views.
Platform & Integrations
Native HRIS connectors, Slack and Teams integrations, API access, mobile apps and security certifications.
Customer Support
Support channels, onboarding help and the support quality reported in public reviews.
Ease of Use
Setup effort and day-to-day usability for HR, managers and employees, based on public reviews and vendor documentation.
conclusion
Pick the type of tool before you pick the brand. If your HRIS is staying, a specialist like Lattice or 15Five adds reviews, goals and calibration on top of it. If the HRIS is changing anyway, a suite such as HiBob keeps talent data on one record.
The per-seat price is rarely the real cost. Lattice’s $10 a seat comes with a $4,000 yearly minimum, Leapsome adds a €7 platform fee to every module and Workday’s implementation typically runs one to two times its annual subscription.
Shortlist two or three platforms from Narrow It Down, then put the five questions to each vendor before you book a demo.
