Video interview software lets candidates answer your screening questions on camera, either recorded in their own time or live with your team, so first rounds stop eating recruiter calendars. Most tools now add transcripts, scoring and ATS sync on top.
What separates them is the format they support, how much the AI decides and how they charge, from flat fees to per-role pricing and enterprise contracts. We checked every price on vendor sites in October 2026 and scored each tool on the same eight parameters.

Ranked by HRStacks score, highest first. Prices are as published on each provider’s own site in October 2026. “Lowest price” sorts on the entry plan’s monthly cost for a team with 5 open roles, billed annually where offered: Hireflix $75, Spark Hire $249 and Willo $295 (5 roles at $59). InCruiter publishes rupee prices only, so its ₹1,99,999 yearly Pro pack is converted to about $174 a month at ₹95.76 to the dollar, before GST. Quote-only providers sort last. Sorting changes the order only.
Detailed Video Interview Software Reviews
Each card shows the price we found on the vendor’s own pricing page in October 2026, the eight parameter scores and the trade-offs. Read the “What to watch” column first, since that is usually what separates two tools with close scores.

VidCruiter
Why we picked VidCruiter
VidCruiter scored highest on our eight parameters, 4.3 out of 5, mainly because it leaves few gaps. One account covers one-way and live interviews, automated scheduling, reference checks and skills tests, with 70+ integrations including Workday, iCIMS and Greenhouse.
Its AI Interview Scoring, launched in May 2026, grades one-way answers against a rubric your team approves and shows the reasoning behind every score. It does not analyse faces or voices, which keeps it clear of the EU ban on emotion recognition in recruitment.
Security is the other reason. It holds SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018, and hosts data in Canada, the US, the EU, the UK or Australia.

Best for: Mid-market, enterprise and public-sector employers that need one-way and live interviews, defensible AI scoring and a choice of data region.

Spark Hire
Why we picked Spark Hire
Spark Hire has the largest review base on this page, 817 public reviews, and its 4.3 score ties VidCruiter. The difference is price. Unlimited one-way and live interviews start at $249 a month billed yearly, with no per-interview fees.
It has also grown past video. Its 2023 acquisitions added Chally behavioral assessments and the Comeet ATS, now sold as Recruit, so a small team can run screening, assessment and tracking with one vendor.

Strengths and limitations
Support channels
Best for: Small and mid-sized teams, roughly 50 to 500 employees, that want affordable one-way screening and may add assessments or an ATS later.

Jobma
Why we picked Jobma
No tool here covers more interview formats. Jobma runs one-way, live one-to-one, panel and autonomous AI interviews, which is why it scores 4.8 on Interview Formats.
AI scoring stays off until you switch it on, a sensible default for employers in New York City or Illinois. Add SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and 60+ integrations, and it suits teams screening hundreds of candidates a month who can live with quote-only pricing.

Editor scores: 8 parameters
Strengths and limitations
Support channels
Best for: High-volume recruiting teams that want every interview format, including an AI interviewer, under one contract.

Willo
Why we picked Willo
Willo is the only tool here that bills by the role you are actually hiring for. Lite costs $59 per live role a month with no contract, so a business hiring in bursts pays nothing in quiet months.
Video interview details
Editor scores: 8 parameters
Strengths and limitations
Support channels
Best for: Employers with seasonal or irregular hiring who want one-way screening and skills tests without an annual contract.

HireVue
Why we picked HireVue
HireVue earns its place on compliance and scale. It holds ISO 27001, ISO 27701, SOC 2 Type II and FedRAMP authorization, more than any other tool here, and has commissioned external bias audits aligned with NYC Local Law 144 since 2023.
Scheduling is a strength too. The AllyO and Hireguide acquisitions, the second closed in March 2026, give it chat-based and self-service scheduling for high-volume roles.
Its score is held back by price. HireVue publishes nothing, and independent estimates start near $35,000 a year.

Editor scores: 8 parameters
Strengths and limitations
Support channels
Best for: Large employers hiring thousands of people a year who need scored assessments, FedRAMP-level security and published bias audits.

Hireflix
Why we picked Hireflix
Hireflix does one thing and does it cheaply. $75 a month billed yearly covers unlimited users, positions and one-way interviews for companies under 50 staff, and the first month is free.
Public reviewers rate it 5.0 across 700 reviews, the highest on this page. It added SOC 2 Type II in September 2026.

Editor scores: 8 parameters
Strengths and limitations
Support channels
Best for: Small businesses and startups that want unlimited one-way screening at a fixed, low price and do their own evaluation.

Alex (formerly Apriora)
Why we picked Alex
Alex is a different kind of tool. Instead of recording answers for a recruiter, its AI interviewer runs the first round itself by video, phone, SMS or WhatsApp and returns a ranked shortlist.
It backs that with SOC 2 Type II, a Warden AI bias audit from August 2025 and support for 33+ ATS. Treat it as a screening agent for very high volume, not a recording tool, and test the candidate experience first.

Editor scores: 8 parameters
Strengths and limitations
Support channels
Best for: High-volume employers that want an AI agent to run first-round screens around the clock and can test candidate completion rates first.

InCruiter
Why we picked InCruiter
InCruiter is the only tool here that can supply the interviewer as well as the software. Its bench of 4,500+ vetted experts runs technical rounds for you on a live platform with a code compiler and whiteboard.
It also publishes prices, unlike most enterprise tools. The Pro pack costs ₹1,99,999 plus GST for 100 interview credits.

Editor scores: 8 parameters
Strengths and limitations
Support channels
Best for: Tech and IT employers, especially in India, that want to outsource technical interview rounds to vetted experts.

Harver
Why we picked Harver
Harver makes sense when video interviewing is one part of a larger assessment process. It pairs one-way and live interviews with pymetrics games and situational tests, and its September 2026 purchase of Symphony Talent adds recruitment marketing.
Video answers are scored by people, not algorithms, and it publishes NYC Local Law 144 bias audits by BABL AI. Only three ATS partners are named, though: iCIMS, UKG and Workday.

Strengths and limitations
Support channels
Best for: Retail, contact center and logistics employers filling hourly roles at volume who want assessments and video in one flow.

interviewstream
Why we picked interviewstream
interviewstream has been in video interviewing since 2003 and is now part of RIVS. Its strength is hiring events: it schedules large batches of live and one-way interviews for school districts and public employers, and connects to education ATS such as Frontline and PowerSchool.

Best for: School districts, universities and public employers that run interview days and need education ATS integrations.
More Video Interview Software Providers
These three providers are listed rather than carded because each is built around a narrower strength: a Nordic compliance focus, credit-based AI screening for startups and a video module inside a full talent suite. Prices are checked on vendor sites the same way as the ten above.
Every provider above was scored on the same eight parameters, with prices checked on vendor sites in October 2026. The ten carded tools are the highest scorers, and Recright, Truffle and Avature follow as narrower picks. The full scoring method is in how we scored.
The sections below settle the questions that actually split these tools: which interview format you need, how much of the decision you hand to AI, which laws apply where you hire and what a contract really costs.
How to choose video interview software
Five factors separate these tools more than any feature list. If live rounds are the bottleneck rather than screening, our interview scheduling software ranking may be the better starting point.
Interview format
Every ranked tool records one-way answers or runs an AI-led screen. Seven also host live calls, so one account can cover screening and later rounds. Hireflix and Willo stop at one-way.
Best equippedJobma, VidCruiter, Spark Hire
ATS fit
Integration lists vary widely. Check that your ATS is named, and whether the link sits on the plan you are buying.
Best equippedVidCruiter, Jobma, Alex
Security and data location
Recordings are personal data. SOC 2 Type II is common here, and only VidCruiter lets you pick from Canada, the US, the EU, the UK or Australia.
Best equippedVidCruiter, HireVue, Jobma
One-way recorder, live platform or AI interviewer
These tools fall into three types, and most buyers only need one. Pick the type first, then compare providers inside it.
One-way recorder
Candidates record answers, and your team reviews them later.
Right forSmall teams screening a steady flow of applicants at the lowest price.
One-way plus live
Recorded screens and live calls in the same account.
Right forTeams that want screening and later rounds in one place, with one candidate record.
AI interviewer
An AI agent asks the questions and follows up in real time.
Right forVery high volume first rounds. Jobma and InCruiter offer AI interviewers as one option among several.
What the AI actually evaluates
“AI-powered” covers everything from a transcript to an automated shortlist. This is the decision that carries legal weight, so check where each tool sits. Our guide to preventing bias in AI hiring covers the internal controls.
No AI scoring
Transcripts only. Your team does all the evaluation.
Trade-offThe lowest legal exposure, and the most reviewer time.
AI assists, people decide
Summaries, rubric scores or match percentages, with a person making the call.
Trade-offFaster review that stays defensible, as long as the scoring logic is shown.
One feature has dropped out of the market.
Facial and emotion analysis: none of the ten ranked tools advertises it today. HireVue dropped facial analysis in 2021, and the EU AI Act has banned emotion recognition in recruitment since 2 February 2025. If a vendor’s AI reads tone of voice or expression, get the details in writing.
AI hiring rules that change your shortlist
Four rules decide what your vendor must support if you hire in these places. Each tile ends with the question to put to the vendor.
Two newer changes matter even if you never hire in New York or Colorado.
California and Illinois treat biased AI as discrimination
California’s Civil Rights Council rules on automated-decision systems took effect on 1 October 2025. Bias testing, or the lack of it, now counts as evidence in a discrimination claim, and the related records must be kept for four years.
Illinois added a duty to notify candidates when AI is used in employment decisions from 1 January 2026. In practice, prefer vendors that can export scoring logic and keep audit trails for that long.
The EU’s high-risk rules moved to December 2027
The Digital Omnibus on AI pushed high-risk duties for recruitment tools from August 2026 to 2 December 2027. From then on, employers must keep human oversight and logs for at least six months, and must tell candidates when such a system is used. The emotion recognition ban did not move.
Dates checked October 2026: this is a summary for shortlisting, not legal advice. The NYC rules and each state’s guidance carry the full detail.
What the headline price leaves out
Several comparison sites still quote retired plans, such as a $149 Spark Hire tier and Willo’s old Growth plan. This table uses each vendor’s own pricing page as of October 2026, plus independent estimates where a vendor publishes nothing, labelled as such.
| Provider | Pricing model | Entry price | What sits outside it | Contract terms |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VidCruiter | Usage-based quote | Quote only | Not published | Not published |
| Spark Hire | Flat per account | $249/mo billed yearly, $299 monthly | API, SSO and extra brands are add-ons. The monthly plan caps you at 5 jobs and 5 users | No refunds, cancellation at term end |
| Jobma | Annual credit bundles | Quote only | Access to recorded videos ends with the contract | Annual |
| Willo | Per live role | $59 per live role/mo | Native ATS links need Enterprise from $3,799/yr. ID and background checks are add-ons | No contract on Lite |
| HireVue | Annual license | Quote only (independent estimate about $35,000/yr) | Implementation reported at $15,000 to $40,000 (independent estimate) | 1-year minimum, auto-renews unless cancelled 60 days ahead (reported) |
| Hireflix | Flat by company size | $75/mo billed yearly under 50 staff, $150/mo for 50 to 250 | Nothing extra listed. All features included | Annual for the headline price |
| Alex | Annual enterprise contract | Quote only | Not published | Annual |
| InCruiter | Credit packs | ₹1,99,999/yr + GST for 100 interview credits | GST, plus more credits beyond 100 interviews | Yearly pack |
| Harver | Enterprise license | Quote only | Not published | Not published |
| interviewstream | Per user (reported) | Quote only | Onboarding fee reported | Not published |
For how these prices compare on a single basis, see the price note under the Quick Summary.
How long setup takes
Self-serve tools go live in days, while enterprise platforms take months, mostly spent on ATS links and approvals. These are the averages buyers report in public reviews. If your ATS link is the slow part, check integration depth in our applicant tracking software ranking.
Average time to go live as reported in public reviews, checked October 2026. A full bar is 3 months. Providers without a reported average are not shown.
Candidate fraud, deepfakes and ID checks
With one-way and remote interviews, you need to know who is actually answering. Few comparison pages cover this, but four ranked tools now build checks in. Our piece on AI and cheating in job interviews covers the wider problem.
These checks are not perfect.
False flags: public reviewers report Alex’s cheating detection flagging genuine candidates. Whatever tool you choose, make sure a person reviews every flag before anyone is rejected.
Five questions to ask every vendor
These questions surface the gaps that sales demos skip. Ask them in writing before you sign.
“Can you share your most recent independent bias audit summary?”
“Can we delete one candidate’s videos, and every copy, within 30 days?”
“Where are recordings stored, and can we choose the region?”
“What happens to our recordings when the contract ends?”
“Which decisions does the AI make on its own, and can we turn it off?”
Narrow it down
Match your main priority to a row below. Each pick links to its full review on this page.
Start with how you hire, then let price and AI rules settle the rest.

Smallest budget, steady hiring
$75 a month billed yearly covers unlimited users and interviews for companies under 50 staff.

Video Interview Software FAQs
Short answers to the questions buyers ask most, using the same prices and dates as the rest of this page.
How we scored video interview software
Every provider on this page is scored on the same eight parameters, each on a 1 to 5 scale, and the overall score is the weighted average. We checked vendor pricing pages, certifications and documentation in October 2026 and read public reviews for recurring praise and complaints. Rankings are not influenced by paid placement.
Pricing & Value
Published price against what it includes. Quote-only tools are judged on independent estimates and contract terms such as minimums, refunds and add-ons.
Interview Formats
One-way, live, panel and AI-led interviews, plus question types beyond video such as written answers and skills tests.
AI Evaluation & Fairness
What the AI scores, whether it shows its reasoning, whether it can be switched off and whether a named bias audit is published. Tools with no AI scoring score low here.
Scheduling & Candidate Experience
Self-scheduling, reminders, mobile recording and the complaints candidates raise in public reviews.
Security & Compliance
SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP and similar certifications, choice of data region and controls for deleting recordings.
ATS Integrations
How many applicant tracking systems are named as integrations, which plan they sit on and whether an API is offered.
Customer Support
Channels offered and how public reviewers rate support responsiveness.
Ease of Use
Setup time and how recruiters rate everyday use in public reviews.
conclusion
Choose by how you hire before you compare features. A team screening a steady stream of applicants needs a different tool from one that hires in bursts or runs live panel rounds, and the decision guide maps each of those to a pick.
The most common pricing mistake is reading the lowest headline figure as the cheapest tool. Hireflix’s $75 a month covers unlimited use only when billed yearly, and Spark Hire’s $299 monthly plan caps you at 5 jobs and 5 users.
Shortlist two tools, then send both the five vendor questions in writing before you book demos. The answers on bias audits, deletion and export will usually settle it.
